Our Current Exhibit:

A Story of a Village:
Hastings in Maps from 1600 to the Present

In our current exhibit, we share a selection of 27 maps from our collection, showing the geographical history of our village from 1779 (“Sketch of the Road from Knightsbridge to White Plains”) to 2003 (“Trailways Map of Hastings-on-Hudson”). Highlights include a 1932 “Historical Map of the Westchester County” by Hastings cartographer John P. Davies and three maps from a 1889 insurance atlas of Greenburgh.

The cottage is open this summer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and by appointment. Stop by for a visit!

We’re Blogging! Our New Weblog

The Society has a new online venture, a weblog (that's “blog” to those of you on the cutting edge of technology). Like a public diary, the blog will keep you up to date with current and upcoming events, exhibitions, and goings-on at the cottage. It will also give us lots of room to show off our magnificent collection and to share all those fascinating scraps of Hastings history that we uncover every week -- with plenty of room left over for you to share your memories with us!

Visit our blog from time to time to see what's new, or subscribe using your e-mail address or your RSS feed reader to receive each post as it is put up.

Visit the Museum in the Streets®!

The centuries-long history of Hastings-on-Hudson is now accessible to all who live, work and visit here, thanks to a new project of the Hastings Historical Society. A historical walking tour of Hastings, starting at Boulanger Plaza, features signs with Village history and photos at 34 different historical sites.

The Hastings Historical Society received an “Award toward Excellence” for the Museum in the Streets® from the Lower Hudson Conference of Historical Agencies and Museums, which called the project “a unique, illustrated bilingual walking tour and street exhibition using archival materials and presenting them to citizens, school children, and heritage tourists alike in a direct and engaging way.”
